Description
During recent years, SCRAP has been invited to establish worm farms and worm farm programs for preschools and childcare centres as the requirements for sustainability education within these institutions have increased.
During 2019, we had requests from organisations for excursions to our centre at Holsworthy and with a grant from Liverpool City Council to assist us in making our centre ‘kid-safe’ for these excursions to proceed we started the Small Scale Sustainability programs.
Children can visit and learn to make their own mini-wormfarm, pot seeds and make their own soil mix to do it. As well as this they can experience the harvesting of our big worm farms, compost bays and many of the other sustainability options the SCRAP Centre offers, including even a visit to our composting toilet if the need arises!
A typical 1 hour excursion for around 20 children + carers/teachers costs just $176 inc GST, with materials provided, so all you need is the transport.
